I Still Got My Oilfield Pride….

As the days pass by and the work dries up, I start to wonder where it all went.
My little girl asks me to buy her this and that, I look at her, shaking my head knowing all the moneys all spent.

My loving wife started working full-time to help us pay the bills, as I drive down the road, looking for work, all the stacked rigs I see gives me chills.

I miss the guys on the rigs, the bond we had, the brotherhood of working the patch. Whatever my next job is, that same feeling will be hard to match.

I used to have a swagger when I walked, knowing that I could provide, with the jobs all gone and all eye’s on me, now all I have left is my oilfield pride !!!!!

A cool Poem submitted to us from @Jay Calk…….

“Its another lonely day on this hell bent rig, piling weight upon the bit to make that sucker dig.

i heard a thumping noise coming from the pump,i lifted up my head and watched the kelly hose jump.

i unchained the brake and grabbed that ole clutch,i shifted into low giving the throttle just a touch.i kicked out the pump and yelled “GET IT DONE”,they’re changing out a seat in the hot summer sun.

Its times like these that i really love my job, chompin on these boys like corn on the cob.they’ll put it back together and we’ll start it up again,100 strokes per minute until the very end.

When one things fixed another thing breaks, patience heart and love is all that it takes.we’ll drill it all down just to pull it out again, these boys are ballin on NOMAC 110

On November 6, 2008, I almost lost my husband when he was working on a work over rig. A 8 1/2 lb steel plate fell from the crown and went straight through his hard hat, fracturing his skull.

We’d been married only 4 months and I felt as though my whole world was falling apart. During his surgery he had a seizure which made the whole situation even scarier. He pulled through an for 2 weeks we struggled to get him back to his old self.

Between some of the memory loss, hallucinating and learning how to walk again, I worried if we’d ever get our lives back. Luckily, almost 5 years later, we have an amazing marriage that’s way better than I could ever imagine, two beautiful little boys, and the life we’ve always dreamed of.

He’s now employed with Nabors drilling and even though I’m still terrified of one day getting that dreadful phone cal again, were very blessed that he’s still able to work and have a job.

The oil industry is a dangerous job. But it’s the life we live and only the strong survive!
